PRECAUTIONS WHEN
RECHARGING BATTERY
There is a danger of the battery exploding if it is
handled incorrectly when recharging.
Strictly observe the following points in accordance
with "6.19.3.1 BATTERY HANDLING
PRECAUTIONS" on P. 6-92 and the instruction
manual provided with the charger:
Adjust the charger voltage to suit the voltage of
the battery to be charged. Incorrectly setting the
voltage may cause explosions due to
overheating and ignition of the charger.
Securely clamp the (+) charge clip of the
charger to the (+) terminal of the battery, then
securely clamp the (-) charge clip of the charger
to the (-) terminal of the battery.
Set the charge current to 1/10 or less of the
battery rated capacity.
In the case of boost charge, set the charge
current to the rated capacity or less. Excessive
charge current may cause fire and explosions
due to fluid leaks or fluid deficiency.
If the battery fluid is frozen, do not charge the
battery or start the engine using another power
source. The battery fluid may catch fire or
explode.
STARTING UP USING A
BOOSTER CABLE
Start the engine with a booster cable as follows:
[1] Precautions when starting up using
booster cable
Incorrectly connecting the booster cable may
result in fire. Strictly observe the following points:
When using a booster cable to start the engine,
use two persons, with one person in the
operator's seat and the other next to the battery.
When starting the engine using another
machine, take care to avoid contact between
the normal machine and the failed machine.
When connecting a booster cable, keep the
starter switch key for both machines at the
"OFF" position.
