6-94 5/2020 CC1908S-1
• Do not connect to the wrong side [connecting
(+) to (-) or (-) to (+)] when connecting the
booster cable.
• Connect from the (+) terminal first, but only after
disconnecting from the (-) terminal (ground).
• Connect the ground to the (-) terminal of the
failed machine when connecting the ground as
the last procedure.
Refer to "6.19.3.4 STARTING UP USING A
BOOSTER CABLE" on P. 6-93.
• Avoid contact between adjacent clips of the
booster cable as well as contact between a clip
and the machine when disconnecting the
booster cable.
[2] Precautions when
connecting/disconnecting booster cable
WARNING
• Never let the (+) terminal come into contact
with the (-) terminal when connecting the
cable.
• Wear goggles and rubber gloves when
starting the engine with a booster cable.
• Do not let the donor machine and failed
machine come into contact with each other.
The battery produces hydrogen gas, so
there is a risk of explosion due to sparks
near the battery.
• Connect the booster cable correctly. Note
that there will be some sparks when making
the last connection. Make this connection
from as far away as possible from the
battery.
• Do not let the booster cable clips contact
each other or the machine when
disconnecting the booster cable.
IMPORTANT
• Use a booster cable and clips suitably heavy
for the battery size.
• The battery in the donor machine should be
of similar capacity to that in the failed
machine.
The starting system of this machine is 24 V.
• Check that the cable and clips are not
damaged or corroded.
• Connect the clips securely.
• Check that each control lever is in the
neutral position.
