6.2 BASIC MAINTENANCE M A E D A Crawler Crane
6-4 5/2020 CC1908S-1
BASIC MAINTENANCE
[1] Oil handling
Oil operates under extremely harsh conditions
(high temperature, high pressure) in the engine and
equipment, which causes the oil to deteriorate over
time.
Always use oil that meets the requirements such as
the grade and operating temperature specified in
the operation manual.
Be sure to replace the oil periodically irrespective of
contamination.
Oil is equivalent to the blood in our bodies. Exercise
due caution when handling oil, keeping out any
impurities (such as water, metal powder or dust).
Most mechanical failures are a result of the ingress
of impurities.
Particular caution is required to prevent impurities
entering during machine storage and lubrication.
Do not mix different grades or brands of oil.
Lubricate using the specified quantity of oil.
Both excessive oil and insufficient oil can lead to
machine failure.
If the oil used in the equipment turns cloudy, this
may indicate the ingress of water or air.
Contact us or our sales service agency.
When replacing oil, always replace the
corresponding filters as well.
Only use the hydraulic oil recommended by us.
Otherwise, there is a risk of filter clogging. There is,
however, no problem if small amounts of oil
remaining in pipes and cylinders intermix with other
oil.
[2] Fuel handling
IMPORTANT
Be sure to use fuel that complies with the
specified standards. For details on the fuel used,
refer to “6.5.1 USE OF FUEL AND LUBRICATING
OIL DEPENDING ON TEMPERATURE" on P.
6-11.
The engine of this machine uses an
electronically controlled high-pressure injection
unit to ensure good fuel consumption and
exhaust gas characteristics. This unit requires
precision components and excellent lubricating
performance, so the use of low-viscosity fuel
with low lubricating characteristics may
significantly lessen durability.
The fuel pump is a precision device and will
become inoperative if fuel containing moisture or
impurities is used.
Extra caution is required to prevent impurities from
entering during machine storage and lubrication.
Do not remove the strainer when replenishing the
fuel.
Always use fuel that meets requirements such as
the grade and operating temperature specified in
the operation manual.
Ensure that the fuel tank is filled up after finishing
the day's work to prevent condensation of humid air
inside the fuel tank that will result in moisture mixing
with the fuel.
Drain deposits and water out of the fuel tank before
starting the engine or approximately 10 minutes
after fuel replenishment.
Air must be bled from the circuit when the machine
runs out of fuel or when the fuel filter has been
replaced.
Clean the tank and fuel system if any foreign matter
enters the fuel tank.
