[3] Fuel prefilter contaminating water and
sediment draining
WARNING
• The fuel separator contains fuel (diesel). Be
extremely careful of naked flames, including
cigarettes, when washing the transparent
cap of the fuel separator.
• If the fuel spills when water is drained from
the fuel prefilter or the fuel prefilter is
replaced, be sure to wipe it off.
IMPORTANT
• Water or dust accumulating inside the fuel
prefilter (1) will cause engine failure. Check
inside the transparent cup and drain any
water or contaminants accumulated inside.
• If water accumulates in the fuel prefilter
transparent cup, it is likely that water is also
mixed in the fuel tank. Drain water and any
contaminants mixed in the fuel tank.
• If water in the fuel prefilter transparent cup
freezes, check that it has melted completely
before draining.
• Prepare a container to catch the drained water.
4. Stop the machine on a level surface.
5. Open the right cover.
6. Inspect the transparent cup (2) and check if
water and sediment has accumulated inside
it.
7. If water has accumulated in the transparent
cup, drain the water as follows:
1. Remove the cover below the fuel
prefilter.
2. Rotate the fuel cock (5) to the position
marked (4) to close it.
3. Open the drain cock (6) at the bottom of
the fuel prefilter, and drain the
accumulated water from inside. If the
water is not completely drained, rotate
the air bleeding bolt (7) at the top of the
fuel prefilter two or three turns
(counterclockwise) to loosen the bolt.
4. If the water still does not drain fully, open
the fuel cock (5).
5. Once the water has been drained,
retighten the drain cock by hand.
★Tightening torque
1 N・m to 2 N・m (0.1 kgf・m to 0.2 kgf・m)
6. Be sure to retighten the air bleeding bolt
if it was loosened.
7. Open the fuel cock.
8. Bleed the air, referring to "6.19.6 FUEL
CIRCUIT AIR BLEEDING" on P. 6-99.
9. Check that there is no fuel leakage.
