Run/Add/Remove tab
The Run /Ad d/Rem o ve tab lets you add, rem ove, edit, and specify properties
for programs that automatically run when you start W indows, and for
programs that appear on the St art > P rogram menu .
The Run/A dd/R em ove options are:
• Programs Run Automatically at Windows Startup–Cl ick Add t o add a
new program to run automatically at Win dows startup. The next time you
start Windows, the program starts automatically. These programs will be
added to your StartUp folder.
TIP: Hold d own the Shif t key immediately after the Windo ws Star ting
screen appears (or after loggi ng in) and Windows will skip loading the
files in your S tartUp folder.
Select a pr ogram an d click Remove toremoveit from the Windows Startup
folder. The next time you start W indows, the program n o longer starts
automatically.
Select a program and click Edit to edit the program’s fi le name or path.
Select a program and click Properties to view its Pr operties sheet. The
Properties sheet show s whe re the program i s beginning from: Registry or
StartU p.
• Add/Remove Program Menu–Wh en you load programs into Windows
95/98, they can register their install program w ith the Add/Remove
Programs control panel. This section shows you which programs are
registered this way. When yo u run Control Panel and o pen the
Add/Remove Programs control panel, you see the same list.
If you d ouble-click an item in t his list, it ru ns the associated Setup program ,
which g e nerally allows you to add or remove features of the program. For
example, the Microsoft Office Add/ Remove option would allow you to
remove Office components, or add ones that you originally did not install.
This EZ Setup screen lets you view or modify all regi stered
inst all/uninstall utilities .
