2. Select the application that has s topped responding.
CPR tri es to r ecognize the program and pre-select it for you.
3. Click E nd Task to have CPR close the program, or c lick Reactivate to
have C PR try to reactivate the program.
IMPORTANT: A n applicati on that has stopped responding m ay
have o ther problems as w ell. Therefore your data m ay already be
lost or damag ed. If you need to recover your work, follow the
instructions in the following procedure.
To att empt to recover your work:
1. Us e Explorer to make a backup copy of the o pen document you were
work ing with in the app lication.
2. Click the Reactivate button in the Crash Protector box.
3. Attempt to save your work in the application.
4. Exit the application immediately and restart Windows.
Selecting Crash Protector Properties
McAfee C rash Protector lets you select a vari ety of properties that determine
how the utility b ehaves a nd what kind of protection it gives you.
To select Crash Protector properties:
1. Right-c lick on the Guardia n icon in the sy st em tray.
2. High light the Crash Protector Menus option
3. Click the Crash Protector Properties entry.
The properties yo u can s elect ar e:
16-bit Protection - provides protection from crashes and errors
generated by 16-bit programs and files.
32-bit Protection - provides protection from crashes and errors
generated by 32-bit programs and files.
Kernel Mode Protection - provides protection from Windows " Blue
Screen" errors and crashes.
