Finding orphans
An orphan i s an entry for a program that has moved or no longer exists.
Choose the Find Orphans command from the Search menu.
RegistryProdisplaysalistofalltheorphansitfindsinthedatabaseinthe
Orphans tab. You can select an orphan key entry and Registry Pro selec ts it for
you in the Registry database in the top two panels of the window. You can
double - click an or phan entry in the top right p anel to change its value data.
Editing a Registry entry
Double-click a database entry in the top right panel of the Registry Pro
window.
Importing a Registry file
The Reg istry file in use on your PC is loc ated in your Wind ows fold er o n th e
system hard drive. You can import a Registry file that has been c reated
elsewhere, or one exported earlier, into Registry Pro so you can examine it or
edit its contents. When you export aRegistry file, you cansave itwith a unique
file name in any location yo u like. Th is lets you create and use different
Registry d atabases for particu lar purposes.
To impor t a regis try file :
1. Choose th e Import Registry File command from the File menu.
2. Locate a Registry file (with a file type of .R EG) and click O pen.
Registry Pro opens the Registry file y ou selected, displaying its key
ha ndles, child keys, along w ith key values of a key you s elect.
Exporting a Registry file
You can expor t the op e n R e gistry file, saving it w ith a unique file name a nd a
.RE G file extension. You might do this to keep Registry files for different
purposes, or t o share a R egistry file with someone else.
Choose the Export Registry File command from the File menu.
Refreshing the Registry database
You can refresh the Registry so it d isplays the latest data stored in the active
Registry file in your W indows folder on the system hard drive.
