Configuration after Adding/Removing Network Devices
The System Settings must be verified after changes are made to network
devic es. This is espe cially important if a network device is added or rem oved.
If a device was removed, all settings may h ave t o be re-entered, because t hey
previous settings may now be associated with the wrong device. If a device is
added, it will have to be configured for t he f irst time.
1. Select the Setti ngs menu item, and the System option on the popup menu.
2. For each network device:
• Choose the device in the list an d choose Properties.
• C o nfirm that the s ettings shown are y our choice. Makes changes where
necessary.
• Cho ose OK when done. Note: chang es take effect for this devic e when
you choose OK on th e Properties page. Choosing Cancel on the
System/Settings pag e does not cancel these changes. If in doubt, review
the setti ngs later to confirm.
3. Choose OK to close the System/Settings dialog box.
Using Password Protection
The following steps will help the Administrator protect the configuration.
With out using password protection, the only way to make sure that setup has
not been altered is to examine all settings. By u sing password protection, you
will be notified if the setup file w as altered.
1. Select the File menu item, and the "Password " option on the popup menu.
This po ps up another menu. Select "Set".
2. Enter a secret password in the two places shown an d choose OK.
3. W rite the password d own and store it in a safe place. There is n o
mechanism for retrieving the password once it is lost.
The nex t time the program is run , i t will prompt fo r the password to be
entered. If it is not entered (you c an sim ply hit the <Esc> key), the control
functions are disable d (shown i n gray) and the setup cannot be ch anged. Once
the correct password is entered, the control functions may be used.
