Using Transport
Use the Tran sport wizard to package an entire application and its
configurat ion settings so that you can rebuild the appl ication with exactly the
same option settings on a different computer. To start the Transport wizard ,
click Transport in the UnInstaller window.
You can also include associated d ata files i n the T ransport package. For
example, if you are transporting your spreadsheet program from your work
computer to your laptop computer, you can include the s preadsheets that you
have crea ted.
To recreate the application, run the pac kage file from the new computer, a s
described in the next sec tio n, “How do I reb uild a transported ap plication on
another c ompu ter?”
WARNING:Make sure that the application license permits you to run a
copy of t he application on more th an one c omputer. S om e application
licences now permit you t o use a single c o py of th e application on m o re
than one computer as long as only one computer is in use at a time.
Choose the Transport wizard to:
• Create a copy of an application on a different computer.
The Transport wizard creates a compressed file that contains an entire
app lication, including its op tion and Regi stry setting info rmation. You c an
use this file to rebuild an application with t he same settings on your office
and laptop computer s.
• Move an application to a new computer.
Avoid time-consuming application setup when you buy a new c o mputer.
Use t he Tran sport wizard to reinsta ll your old a pplications with the same
option settings.
How do I rebuild a transported application on another
computer?
An applicatio n t hat you packag e with the Transport wizard can be rebuilt on
another computerthatcanaccessthediskor the networkw hereyou storedthe
Transport package file, and that is running W indows 95 or later. Simply
double-click the name of the Trans port p ackage file in a Windows Explorer file
list, and follow instructions t hat appear on the screen.
