NOTE: If you know a comp onent is operating properly but First Aid
reports a problem, do not Aut oFix i t. First Aid may have incorrectly
identified a “problem,” and the suggested fix m ay in advertently cause a
real pr oblem to o c cur. If Auto Fix produces unwanted changes in y our
PC, you can usu ally reverse the changes with Undo.
You can AutoFix from several points in the CheckU p report:
• Click AutoFix on the main CheckUp Report screen to fix critical and
potential problems.
• After clicking View o n the initial CheckUp R eport. Depending on the fix
available for a given problem, yo u will see eit her an Aut oFix or Manual Fix
button in the screen.
To return to the main CheckUp desktop, click Finished.
Manually fixing a problem
Auto F ix is a skilled PC technician, but certain P C proble ms cannot be fixed
automatically. First Aid st ill provides a solution fo r these pr oblems but needs
your participation to fix t hem. For ex ample, if C heckUp determ ines that an
important software component is missi ng, you’ll need to locate the required
CD or floppy disk and insert it in the drive.

before or after a n Aut oFix. To lea rn bef orehand, click View from t he main
Chec kUp Report screen and select a problem from the list. Click Fix Info ,
and the Fix Info s creen appears. The Possible Solutions screen lists any
so lutions requiring a manual fix. T o learn after an AutoFix, clic k Vie w
from the final CheckUp Report screen.
To manua lly fix a pr oblem, click Manual Fix on the Fix Info screen, and follow
the instructions provided.
Using Universal Undo
First Aid 2000 helps you un do mistakes you make with your PC’s settings.
Quite o ften, seemi ngly innocent chang es such as upgrading so ftware or
making a change in the Windows control panel can lead to unintended
consequences. Univ ersal Undo offers a suite of undos that autom atically
monitor changes in your PC, and a llow yo u t o quickly restore your previous
settings w hen things go wron g.
