Using a Rescue Disk
Insert your Rescue disk into drive A, reboot your computer (or turn on the
power). If your system doesn’t boot, access CMOS and make sure the Booting
From Flopp y option is enabled. Then follow the ins tructions on the screen.
Disk Minder in DOS
Disk Minder displays a screen showing the kind of data it is checking and the
options in effect. If the Display Summary for Each Drive option is set, Disk
Minder displays a summary message showing the total number of errors
found on each driv e , if any. It also shows info rmat ion about the clusters on the
drive..
First Aid
First A id detects common computer problems ranging from hardware,
software, to configuration problems. It examines your entire computer an d
display options that you c an sele ct such as: fixing pro blems auto matically,
und oing previous configuration settings, and accessing a database of
information to assist in troubleshooting c ommon computer problems.
There are three main buttons to select in the main window to start using F irst
Aid 2000:
Universal Undo allows you to return your PC to its previous setti ngs by
reversing ch anges that have been made to your comput er.
•AskAdvisorallows you to access s ources of information about your
computer whi ch can assist you in troubleshooting problems or simply
learn more a bout yo ur com put er.
CheckUp provides a sys tematic method o f q uickly identifying and fixing
PC problems automatically.
Using CheckUp
First Aid’s CheckUp examines your entire PC at once, or if you are having
troublewithjust on ecomponent,you canperform a rigorous CheckUp onthat
component only.
To perform a complete CheckUp
1. To per form a CheckUp on your entire PC , click the CheckUp button at
the bottom center of th eC heck Up desktop. The CheckUp process begins.
