PGP Personal Privacy
If your e mail ap p lication is no t supp orted by the plug-ins, you can
perform the appr opriate functions from PGPtray. You can also
encrypt and sign files from PGPtools before attaching them to your
email. Encrypting ensures that only you and your intended
re cipie nts c an decipher the file s contents; signing e nsures that a ny
ta mpering will be readily appar ent.
6. Decrypt and verify your email and files.
When someone sends you encrypted d ata, you can unscramble the
contents and verify any appended s ignature to m ake sure that the data
originated with the alleged sender and that it has not been altered.
I f you are using an email application that is supported by the
plug-ins, you can d ecrypt and v erify your messages by selecting the
appropriate o ptions from your application’s t ool bar.
If your e mail ap p lication is no t supp orted by the plug-ins, you can
copy the m es sage to the clipboard and per form the a ppropriate
functions from there. If you want to decrypt and verify file
attachments, you can d o so from the W indows clipboard. You c an
also decrypt encrypted fil es stored on yo ur computer, a nd verify
signed files to ensure that they have not been tampered with.
7. Wipe file s.
When yo u need to permanently del ete a file, you c a n use the Wipe feature
to ensure that the file is unrecoverable. The file is immediately overwritten
so that it cannot be retrieved us ing disk recovery software.

appropriate P GP functions are designed to be immediately available to you
based on the task you a re perform ing at an y given moment.There are f our
