File allocation tab les–Select this option if your files are corrupted
and you have been unable to r e pair them using Disk Minder. O f ten
much or all of your data may be intact on the disk, but the file
allocation tables (FATs) may be damaged. By restoring the most
current copy of a disk’s FAT, you can often recover files that would
otherwise be lost.
5. Click Finish t o restore the driv es w ith the s pecified kinds o f data .
NOTE: If your Ima ge file is m or e t han a day or two old, or if you hav e
optimized your hard disk and have not run Image, try using Disk Minder
to repair the hard drive first.
Rescue Disk
RescueD isk lets youcreatean emergencyboot diskthatyoucanuseto boot up
your PC if you encoun ter a problem that pr events you from st arting the
computer from the system hard drive. The system hard drive is the hard drive
that contains your Windows directory or folder.
You can use the Rescue disk that is created by default.
NOTE:Therescue diskset bootsfroma flopp ybut includesa companion
ZIP or SyQuest disk that lets you run Win dows in a pai red-down
configuration to try to recover your system in the event of a catastrophe.
The large companion resc u e disk also contains critical p ar ts of Windo ws
that can help recover your system in the event some portions of
Windows become damaged. To use this feature, simply run Rescue Disk
on a system that has a ZIP or other high -capacity removable media drive
and follow the on- screen instruc tion s.
To create a Rescue Disk:
1. ClicktheNext>buttonintheRescueDiskWizard.
2. Use the default Rescue disk.
3. Click Next >. Then click Finish.
4. I nsert a disk into drive A and click OK.
Rescue Disk formats the disk and copies critical startup files to it, as well as
any files you added. When the process is complete, Rescue Disk exits and
returns to the desktop.
