Discover Pro lets you view information about your hardware and software.
Each tab in the Discover Pro w in dow covers a speci fic aspect of y our PC,
ranging from a general overview of your system configuration through
software to benchmark and d iagnostic tests. You can click the A dvanced
button at any time to obtain a far m o re detailed analysis of the current t ab’s
topic.
• System tab–s how s information about the most critical hardw are
components of your system, including your CPU, RAM, video, hard
drives, BIOS ROM and PCI Bus.
• Memory tab–gives you information on W indow’s usage of your PC’s
memory, via easy-to-und erstand charts and tables.
• Software tab–provides you with information about the software you are
cu rrently running, and the software components of Win dows, such as the
numbers of virtual m achines , threads, tasks, virtual device drivers and
modules.
• Drives tab– g ive s y ou a com plete summary of any drive installed on you r
system and of all the directories, fold ers and files on that drive. You can
immediately see the total size of each drive, the amount of free space,
fragmentation levels an d t he size of your d rive’s free slack.
• I/O Devices tab – shows info rm ation on the secondary and optional
hard ware d evices installed on your PC, such as sound devices, serial and
parallel ports, printers (including fax/modems) and network d ata
including network type, driver, sp e cification, vers ion and user name.
• Benchmarks tab–an easy-to-use method to benchmark the performanc e of
your CPU and compare it to average benchmarks fo r three oth e r
“commonly configured” PCs.
• Diagnostics tab–a diagnostics center that lets you run d iagnostic tests on
various aspects of your PC, including serial, p arallel, ha rd driv e , RAM and
DM A t es ts.
Working with advanced information
You can view detailed information about any of the tabs in the Discover Pro
window.
To work wi th adva nced information :
1. Click a tab to bring it to the front.
2. Clic k the Adv anced button.
