After the Archive wizard creates the compres sed archive file, it removes the
application from the folder where it was installed, b ut lea ves the s hortcut s to
the ap plication in place . When you click a shortcut to the a pplication in the
Windows Start menu Programs list, or on your Windows desktop, taskbar, or
elsewhere, a message bo x appears, explaining that UnInstaller has archived
the ap plication and asking if you w ould like to restore it.
NOTE: You can also use the Restore wizard to restore archiv ed
applications.
Choose the A rchive wizard if you:
• Want to store useful appli cati ons that you rarely use.
If you have old games o r spec ialized programs, archive them to fr ee disk
space, but keep the shortcuts and other entry p oints av ailable from your
desktop.UnInstaller keeps track of a pplications that you hav e archived.
Their shortcuts and Start menu Programs list entries remain in place. If you
click a short cut or Progra ms lis t entry for an ar chived application, you can
choose whether to res tore the application.
• Think yo u might need an app licatio n again.
If you are not sure that you want to get rid of an application entirely,
instead of using the Remove wizard and creating a backup file, use the
Archive wizard and retain informa tion .
• Want to free space on your computer by removing an application
temporarily.
If you need disk space to perform a tas k that requires a large am ount of
tem porary space, for example, you can archive applicatio ns to free t he
space. Th en you can q uickly restore the applications when you no longer
need their disk space.
Using Move
Use the M ove w izard to co py an application to a n ew loc ation, either on your
local computer or to another comput er, and remove the a pplication fr om its
old loc ation. T o start the M ove wizard, click Move in the UnInstalle r window.
After t he application is move d, the wizard ch anges all shortcuts and Registry
ent ries to refer t o it in its new location.
Choose the M ove wizard to move an application:
• From a crowded hard disk to a new, second hard disk with more space.
