The Mitel Small to Medium Business Controller (SMBC) is a hardware platform that supports the
MiVoice Business call processing software. This topic provides a brief overview of the SMB Controller
loaded with the MiVoice Business solution software, the positioning within the MiVoice Business
series and the networking possibilities. It also features the system phones, the applications and the
application interfaces.
2.1 Introduction
Mitel SMB Controller is a multi-service business controller capable of running the MiVoice
Business solution. The SMB Controller has been developed to continue Mitel's commitment
to deliver simplified deployments for small to medium businesses. A single SMB Controller
embeds CloudLink Gateway, MiVoice Border Gateway, MiVoice Business, Mitel Performance
Analytics Probe, Initial Configuration Wizard and as such provides an all-in-one solution for
the SMB market. The SMB Controller is designed to integrate with a wide variety of legacy and
IP systems, Mitel call control platforms, and management tools such as Mitel Performance
Analytics.
For the MiVoice Business Solution on the SMBC, the limit is 150 Multi-Device User Groups
(MDUGs) consisting of three Members:

Hot Desk User (HDU) or Teleworker User
•
External Hot Desk User (EHDU)
•
SIP User, including MiCollab Softphone User and 150 Registration Directory Numbers for the
HDUs to log into.
Note:
Multi-Device User Groups (MDUGs) with three Members is an average. Some
MDUGs may have more Members, and some may have less.
