This chapter describes maintaining the system and configuration data as well as updating the system
software. Replacing cards, modules, and terminals are also described. The display and control panel
of the SMB Controller, operations supervision using the event message concept, operating state
display, and error display are also topics covered in this chapter.
11.1 Shutdown and Reboot
The SMB Controller can be Restarted, Shutdown, or Factory Reset from the SMB Controller
Manager. A Shutdown initiates a graceful shutdown of the MSL Container. A Factory Reset can
be performed by selecting the Factory Reset Button in the System Reset Panel.
Note:
If you cannot access the SMB Controller Manager, you can trigger system shutdown
by pressing the CTRL button on the front panel and then enter Emergency Mode by
pressing the CTRL button on the front panel while the F0 LED on the front panel is
red during start up.
MSL can be rebooted or restarted from the MSL Container, but that will restart or shutdown the
MSL and all the applications that run under the MSL only, not the complete system.
MiVoice Business can also be restarted with the Reset System Maintenance Command, but that
will only reset MiVoice Business.
