2.2.3.2 Pilot key (CTRL)
Pressing the pilot key carries out certain functions or switches the system to a particular mode.

Different actions are carried out depending on how long the key is pressed and the system’s
current operating mode.
2.2.4 Operating Modes
For the SMB Controller we distinguish four operating modes.

Operating mode Remarks
Start-up mode
• When power is supplied
• After a restart
• Used as a progress indicator during start-up
Normal mode
• System is running normally
• Some additional information of loaded applications
might be indicated
Emergency mode
• For executing an emergency upload of the SMB
Controller system software
• To access the SMB Controller file system with a SSH
session
Shut-down mode
• After the system is shut down
• Used to safely disconnect the SMB Controller from the
power supply
