Maintenance
Note:
Ensure that system backups are maintained to allow quick recovery of new hardware
installation.
Note:
Before opening the SMB Controller for any repair or troubleshooting, read the product
information and safety instructions carefully.
To prevent damage to the components, always follow proper ESD procedures. This also
applies to handling interface cards, processor cards, and system modules that are not inside
ESD-protective wrapping.
1.
Order the new hardware unit for replacement.
2.
If the replacement includes a new CPU card, the admin will need to reset the hardware
identifier from the AMC and re-sync the ARID from the server-manager.
3.
Install the new SMB Controller hardware, see Hardware Installation on page 29.
4.
Remove the interface cards from the existing controller unit and install them on the new
controller unit. See Replacing a Defective Interface Card on page 179.
5.
Remove the DSP modules from the existing controller unit and install them on the new
controller unit. See Replace DSP Module on page 180.
6.
Configure the new SMB Controller, see Deployment Steps for the MiVoice Business Solution
on SMB Controller on page 80.
7.
Restore the database, see Backup and Restore on page 169.
11.9.5 Replace Interface Cards
The different card types, the number of slots and the maximum configuration are all determined
by the system capacity (see the chapter Expansion Stages and System Capacity).
A number of rules have to be observed when fitting the cards (see Component mounting rules.
All configuration data is centrally stored in non-volatile Flash memory. This means that
configuration data is preserved whenever a defective interface card has to be replaced by a new
one.
