8.4.9 Scale

Symptom Possible Cause Recovery
No power
Check power (+24V) and RS-232
communications cables.
Flex circuit connection
Verify that the RS-232 flex circuit connection is
seated properly.
The flex circuit should be oriented so that the
red dot [1] on the PCA matches the dot [2]
marked on the flex circuit. The flex circuit
orientation can also be identified by the short
trace [3] that does not continue. See Figure 8-1.
No scale communication

Verify dip switch configuration as shown in
Figure 8-2.

Pedestal not installed. There is a
minimum weight that must be
placed on the scale in order for it to
read properly.
You will typically receive an FmXP error
message when the pedestal is not installed on
the scale.
Lid not on scale
Verify that the scale lid is installed. Air
turbulence will cause scale instability issues.
Dispensing system hood open
Verify that the front hood of the machine is
closed. Slight air turbulence can cause unstable
readings.
Scale not level
Verify that the machine is leveled properly by
viewing the level bubble on the scale. See 3.8
Leveling the Scale.
Unstable scale
Floor vibration
In some rare cases, vibration through the floor
can cause scale instability issues. This is most
common where the S-920 is not installed on a
concrete floor.
