37 Battery maintenance
The batteries (2 x 12 V, 24 Ah) are normally placed in the control
unit. Larger batteries (< 60 Ah) are placed outside the control unit.
The control unit supervises the batteries and a fault will be generated
if something goes wrong.
They are rechargeable sealed lead-acid batteries and normally
maintenance-free. The producer's instructions shall always be
followed.
The ambient temperature affects the battery capacity, self discharge
and life span. It should not be higher than normal room temperature
(approx. 20-22°C). For highest safety, batteries used in a fire alarm
installation should never be older than four years.
