The machine comes with carbon brushes 4 which have a length of 20 mm. As the
carbon brushes are subject to progressive wear readjust leg springs 3 on carbon
brush holder 5 from time to time to ensure that the brushes are pressed against the
slip ring by the correct force. The leg springs have five lock-in positions 1, and leg
spring 3 should be advanced one lock-in position per 4 mm of brush wear. Readjust-
ment to the next lock-in position will increase the pressing force by 2 N. For the first
readjustment, hang out wire leg 2, tilt it down 180° and lock it in. Further readjust-
ments should be done in clockwise sense.

Caution:
When replacing worn-down carbon brushes, return the leg spring to its first
lock-in position, or the pressing force against the slip ring will be too high,
entailing damage to the same with the result of a total clutch replacement.
