6.2 Thread backlash compensation
76/92/115/132/168 machines
For these machines, the backgauge is driven by a trapezoid thread leadscrew 1. In this
case, the cutting positions are always approached with the backgauge running forward.
The existing thread backlash is compensated by a compression spring 2 which,
through an axially shifting but non-twisting nut 4, always forces against the driving
flank of the leadscrew a nut 3 firmly fixed to the backgauge, with this flank contact
being maintained especially at the positioning phase, i. e. during decelerating.
Same as for the backgauge guide, clean the trapezoid thread leadscrew with petroleum
ether once a year and lubricate it in conformity with the specified lubrication cycle.
