3.2 Play in the clamp guideway

3.2 Play in the clamp guideway
76 cm machines (Figure 8)
- Slacken screws 6 of adjusting bar 7.
- Use eccentric pin 8 to move adjusting bar 7 against clamp guideway 4 until play a
between them is < 0.04 mm.
When doing this adjustment, make sure that clamp guideway 4 lies on guide bar 9
at the opposite side. For this purpose, force the clamp toward the knife.
92 cm machines (Figure 9)
The clamp is guided by preloaded roller guides 4, i. e. there is no play.
Therefore, readjustment will not be necessary.
If many years of hard working conditions of the machine should have caused notice-
able wear replace roller guides 4.
To do so proceed as follows:
- Support clamp 1 with the aid of wooden wedges, for example, bring roller guides 4
to the same level 8 and fix them (refer to Figure 9).
- Slacken screw 7.
- Remove screws 6 and completely take out roller guides 4 (note that there may be
shims underneath).
- Insert new roller guide pairs on both sides and pre-tighten screws 7 with 1.2 to 1.4 Nm.
- Align roller guides 5 to mean positions.
- Tighten screws 6.
- Lock screws 7.
- Check the gap and use shims to correct, if necessary (see the procedure de-
scribed above).
115/132/168/225 cm machines (Figure 10)
- Slacken lock nuts 5 of pressure screws 6.
- Slightly slacken screws 7 of pressure bar 8.
- Use pressure screws 6 to readjust pressure bar 8 with respect to slide blocks 9
until play a between the pressure bar and the slide block is < 0.03 mm.
When doing this adjustment, make sure that slide blocks 9 lie on guide bar 10 at
the opposite side.
For this purpose, force the clamp toward the knife.
- After completing the readjustment, tighten the screws and nuts and use a feeler
gauge to check the play over the entire clamp stroke.
The lateral play (face play) should be b = 0.1 + 0.03 mm.
For this purpose, slightly slacken screws 12 and apply backing screws 11 until you
obtain play b between guide bar 10 and slide block 9.
Re-tighten screws 12.
