11.4 Establishing a network connection (for HTVC only)

11.4 Establishing a network connection (for HTVC only)
CIP data is transferred from the data server to the guillotine by SMB (Server Message
Block) or FTP (File Transfer Protocol).
11.4.1 Establishing a network connection to the data server
You need:
- a LAN (Intranet) patch cable,
- a crossover cable for direct connection between the guillotine and a laptop computer
(peer-to-peer connection), and
- a WLAN router (for wireless connection).
Necessary information on the local network:
- What kind of protocol is to be used for the network connection (FTP or SMB)?
- Is the data server provided within a domain or as a single PC/laptop computer?
- What IP network class is used in the LAN?
- Is the transfer based on DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol)?
Please ask your network administrator.
Necessary information on the data server:
Has the data server (PC/laptop computer) already been configured for a network, and
can the following information be figured out?
USER name Login name of the user account created and corresponding
rights: ………
Computer name PC name the login is referred to: ……..
Password Password for user login: ………
Share name on the file
server
Shared folder containing CIP data.
Important: Ensure data access: ……….
IP address IP address of the data server network card. It need not be
entered if DHCP is used in the LAN, e. g. 192.168.1.1 for
network class C.
Subnet mask Corresponding to the network class. For DHCP, no entry
will be necessary, e. g. 255.255.255.0 for network class C.
Standard gateway IP address of the server for Internet access from the corpo-
rate LAN when a firewall is being used.
Wins IP address of the server which identifies PCs in the LAN by
their names (NetBIOS).
