Reconfiguration of the data server using Microsoft Windows
©
XP, SP2
1. Find and activate the network hardware planned to be used.
Click on Start > Control Panel > Network Connections to have displayed all LAN
adapters contained in the system configuration. By right-clicking, you can see the
properties so that you can prepare the hardware for its intended use (transmission
via network cable or without cable via WLAN).
2. Setting up your network
Click on the Network Tasks menu item under Network Connections and select
Set up a home or small office network. This will start the Network Setup Wizard.
Answer the Connection Type question with Other Method.
In the Other Internet connection methods window, select the This computer
belongs to a network that does not have an Internet connection option.
In the next window, enter or confirm the description and the name of your computer
and the workgroup name of your future data server.
Highlight your selection from the File and Print Sharing menu item and accept all
settings.
Finally, click the Just finish the wizard: I don't need to run the wizard on other
computers radio button to complete your network installation.
3. Create a shared CIP folder.
As a result of the network installation done last, you can now create a "New folder"
(e. g. CIP_OK) in any local path.
After you have created such folder, mark the same and right-click its name to inte-
grate it under the Share and Security option.
Tick the Share this folder on the network box and enter the share name.
Note: The share name will be subsequently saved as a data path on the machine in
the network and must be unambiguous. This means it is case-sensitive.
Depending on the level of data security, the Allow network users to change my
files option can be taken into consideration.
