1.4 Maintenance inspection
- Check the machine lubrication (leadscrew, knife beam and clamp guideways).
Re-lubricate the machine, if necessary, and inform the user on the lube cycles.
- Check the level and the circulation of the gear oil (at the inspection glass) and
change it, if necessary (after 8000 operating hours or after 5 (five) years, at the
latest.
- Check the hydraulic oil level at the tank inspection glass and have a look at the
hydraulic filter clogging indicator while the motor is running. Clean the filter and
change the hydraulic oil, if necessary.
- Check the hydraulic system for tightness.
- Check the horizontal and vertical settings of the backgauge and readjust, if necessary.
Make sure the narrow-cutting rakes are freely moving.
- Check the backgauge position and readjust, if necessary. Check the setting of
sensor B39.
- Regarding the main clutch of PERFECTA machines, check the adjustment and
make sure the carbon brushes are not worn down. Readjust the clutch, if required.
Possibly replace the carbon brushes or the armature disk. Make an overrun test
(values should always be below 0.50 mm) on all PERFECTA machines.
- Use a feeler gauge to check the knife beam guidance (should be less than 0.05 mm)
and readjust the guideways, if necessary.
- Check the overload expansion ring.
- Check the knife setting gauges.
- Use a feeler gauge to check the wear of the knife beam slide blocks. The play
should not exceed 0.05 mm. If necessary, use shims to reduce the play.
- Determine the play in the clamp guidance (0.03 mm max.).
- Visually inspect the slide chips under the backgauge rakes. Replace the chips, if
necessary.
- Run a program in the fully automatic mode and check contactors and relays in the
control cabinet for excessive sparking. If required, replace contactors or relays
(especially cut contactors K50/K51 and clamp contactors K60/K61).
- Measure the voltage on storage or normal batteries while the machine is powered off.
- Measure all operating voltages after the machine has been powered up.
- Check the cutting line indicator lamp and the fluorescent machine lamp and replace
either or both, if necessary.
- Check the false clamp lock (locking pin in the clamp). If the holding fixtures are
damaged replace such damaged parts.
- Use the handwheel to move the backgauge forward and backward at maximum
speed to check the "front backgauge stop" and "rear backgauge stop" functions.
- Use a manometer and an M16 mini measuring connection on the control block to
measure the clamping pressure. The corresponding measuring port is located on
top and marked M2.
- Alternately apply some pressure to either side of the guide block to check the play
compensation of the leadscrew nut. If there is noticeable play readjust the loose
front spindle nut.
