4. Cutting Mechanism

All PERFECTA guillotines work in what is called the "rocking slant cut" mode, i. e. the

knife moves along a curved path from left to right.

All findings and experience regarding issues such as the material to be cut, knives,

clamping, cutting inaccuracies and their remedies are summarized in our "Cutting Primer"

you can obtain from PERFECTA.

4.1 Knife beam guideway play

In addition to many other factors, smooth guidance of the knife beam is a prerequisite to

a high-quality and accurate cut. Depending on the operating conditions, the guideways

are, although to a minimum, subject to wear in the course of the years.

For this reason, the knife beam guideway play should also be measured from time to

time and, if necessary, be corrected.

76/92 cm machines

Knife beam 1 moves between sliding surfaces on machine frame 2 and guide bars 3.

With the aid of shims 4, the guide bars can be adjusted with respect to the knife beam

so that gap s required for establishing a necessary lubricant film is < 0.05 mm.
