6. Backgauge Drive
All PERFECTA guillotines have their controlled backgauge drive. The advantages of
this drive system are gentle starting as well as soft and accurate cut measurement
positioning.
The optimum backgauge speed is automatically calculated from the distances be-
tween the cut marks.
For most of their applications, these guillotines have been factory-set to an optimum.
From the "Settings" menu, you can match the backgauge speed as well as the start
and stop ramps to the material to be processed and to other needs.
For manual positioning and for cutting or programming by the printing pattern, PERFECTA
guillotines have a so-called "electronic handwheel" with nine backgauge speeds each, both
forward and backward. Please refer to "Backgauge" in the Operating Manual.
6.1 Backgauge guidance
76/92 cm machines
The backgauge of 76 and 92 cm guillotines is guided by preloaded linear (roller) guides,
i. e. there is no play.
Therefore, readjustment will not be necessary.
If some play occurs on the backgauge, or if square cutting is no longer in conformity
with the tolerances check the setting screws between the backgauge and the guide-
way for firm seating and lock their nuts. Please refer to "Adjusting Square Cutting" in
the Operating Manual.
Depending on the working conditions, clean (with petroleum ether) and lubricate the
linear guide at least once a year. Please refer to "Lubrication" in the Operating Manual.
