5. Cutting Table
5.1 General
The standard cutting table and its associated side tables all PERFECTA guillotines
come with ground surfaces.
At the factory, the tables are treated with some preservative before being shipped.
This preservative coating must be removed with petroleum ether when the machine is
being installed at the user's. Never use any caustic agents for this purpose.
Thus, the bright table is particularly sensitive to corrosion in the handling area.
The supplies for PERFECTA guillotines contain some protection wax which serves for
inhibiting corrosion and improving the sliding properties.
Owing to abrasion caused by the material to be cut, the wax treatment must be re-
peated from time to time.
If insufficient care or negligence should have caused slight signs of beginning rust
remove the same immediately. Do not use any abrasive cloth or paper for this pur-
pose under any circumstances.
What has proven suitable for this purpose is titanium fleece or a conventional house-
hold scouring pad. Always work in the grinding direction of the table when treating
rust stains.
PERFECTA offers optional stainless steel cladded cutting and side tables.
The surfaces of such tables need not be treated with protective wax so that the
latter is not included in the accessories of machines delivered with such tables.
