1. General Instructions
This Service Manual is intended for the repair and maintenance personnel as a
supplement to the Operating Manual and, therefore, refers to the same elsewhere.
As many setting and repair operations affect the safety of the operator and of the
machine they should be performed by trained and skilled personnel.
In this connection, a few fundamental hints be given which, as practice shows us, are
often disregarded.
• Always remember when removing guardings such as hoods, panels etc. for repair
and maintenance purposes that they mainly cover dangerous moving machine ele-
ments. Therefore, returning guardings after completing such work is mandatory.
• Open control cabinets and switch rooms do not only get dusty and lead to mal-
functioning, but also hold the risk of death.
Use the opportunity PERFECTA offers you and have your mechanics and main-
tenance personnel trained at our Training Centre.
1.1 Installation instructions
- Prior to the installation of the machine, coordinate with the customer its place of
installation, handling or the material flow .
- It is necessary that the machine be installed on a solid, even floor. If the floor is un-
even a machine foundation is recommended. Please refer to Chapter 1, "Foundation
Plan", in the Operating Manual. Where you are not able to take your own decision,
we recommend you to obtain an expert's opinion.
- It is absolutely necessary to bolt the machine down to the floor if it is equipped with
an AWR or pile lift option.
- Align the machine frame by putting wedges underneath in both planes or using
steel shims or wet pieces of cardboard. Apply a precision level to the table resting
surfaces and check alignment in both directions. After you have bolted down the
machine, it may be necessary to re-align the frame.
- Please leave sufficient room around the machine so that you can easily do your
maintenance work. Refer to Chapter 1, "Machine Dimensions", in the Operating
Manual.
- For transit, all bare metallic surfaces of the machine as well as tables, the knife
beam (knife seat) and the knives are treated with some corrosion preservative.
This preservative coating must be removed with petroleum ether when the machine
is being installed at the user's or before the knife is inserted. Never use any caustic
agents for this purpose.
- Turn in the screws for the front side gauges including the cutting stick holder before
fitting the table.
- Also, properly install the cabling for the cut-release pushbuttons and for the hand-
wheel before doing so.
- Use a precision level to align the cutting table in both planes. Align at the height of
the table feet.
- The machines come without hydraulic oil. Fill in hydraulic oil of corresponding
grade before starting up the machine. Refer to Chapter 1, "Machine Dimensions",
in the Operating Manual.
