Firmware Update of IM 154-1 DP, IM 154-2 DP High Feature
Introduction
The procedure below describes the firmware update of IM 154-1 DP or IM 154-2 DP High
Feature interface modules via the PROFIBUS DP interface.
Requirements
● The interface module of the station to be updated must be online.
Procedure
Connect the PG/PC containing the update files via the PROFIBUS DP interface.
For information on procedures, refer to the STEP 7 online help.
Restart after update
On the STEP 7 user interface, you can define
● whether the interface module performs an automatic reset after a successful update to
restart with the new firmware
● whether the interface module is to be reset by switching the electronic/encoder supply
1L+ off before the interface module starts with the new firmware after switching 1L+ on
again
CAUTION
If the "Update firmware after download" checkbox is set, a brief failure of the ET 200pro
station is triggered. If you have not made any provisions for this situation, the update will
result in a CPU STOP due to a rack failure.
If the update fails, the interface module will always restart with its current ("old") firmware
version after you switch 1L+ off and on.
