Suzuki LT-Z400 2003 - Brake Fluid

2·18 PERIODIC MAINTENANCE
• Turn the pa rk ing brake adjuster ~ clockwise until it stop s.
• Then tum the adjuster C2l Va - V. back.
• Tighten the adjuster locknut <D while holding the adjust er <2>
in position with a screw d ri ver.
~ Parking brake adjuster locknut :
18 N·m (1 .8 kgf-m , 13.0 Ib·f1)
I CAUTION I
After adjusting the parking brake, check that there is
no dragging when turning the rear wheel with the
wheel off the ground.
BRAKE FLUID
Inspect every 3 months .
Replace every 2 years.
BRAKE FLUID LEVEL
• Place the handlebar straigh t.
• Check the brake fluid level by observing the lower limit line on
the front brake fluid reservoir.
• Remove the seal. Check the brake fluid level by observing the
lower
li mit line on the rear brake fluid reservoir.
• When the brake f lui d level is be l ow th e lower lim it li ne, re pl en ·
ish with brake flu id that meets the following specification.

A WARNING
• The brake system of this vehicle Is filled with a gly-
col-based brake fluid . 00 not use or mix different
types of fluid such as silicone -based and petro -
leum-based
fluids . 00 not use any brake flu id taken
from old, used
or unsealed containers. Never reuse
brake
fluid left over from the last servicing or stored
for a long period of time .
• Brake fluid , if it leaks, will Interfere with safe r unning
and immediately discolor painted surfaces . Check
the brake hoses and hose lolnts for cracks and oil
leakage before riding.
