2-14 PERIODIC MAINTENANCE
ENGINE COOLANT
ENGINE COOLANT LEVEL CHECK
Check the engine coolant level by observing the upper
A and
lower
B lines on the engine coolant reservoir.
If the level is below the lower line, add engine coolant until the
level reaches the upper line.
ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT
Remove the radiator cap
1 and engine coolant reservoir cap

Place a pan below the water pump, and then drain the engine
coolant by removing the drain plug

Flush the radiator with fresh water, if necessary.
Tighten the drain plug securely.
Pour the specified engine coolant into the reservoir.
NOTE:
For engine coolant information, refer to page 5-3.
Replace the engine coolant every 2 years.
* Do not open the radiator cap when the engine is hot,
as you may be injured by escaping hot liquid or
vapor.
* Engine coolant may be harmful if swallowed or if it
comes in contact with the skin or eyes. If engine
coolant gets into the eyes or contacts the skin, flush
the eyes or wash the skin thoroughly, with plenty of
water. If engine coolant is swallowed, induce vomit-
ing and call a physician immediately.
