• Count out 21 pins (20 pitches) on the chain and measure the
distance between the two points. If the distance exceeds the
service limit, the chain must be replaced.
% Drive chain 20-pitch length

ADJUSTING
• Loosen or tighten both chain adjuster nuts
C until there is 30
– 40 mm (1.2 – 1.6 in) of slack at the middle of the chain
between the engine and rear sprockets as shown. The refer-
ence marks
D on both sides of the swingarm and the edge of
each chain adjuster must be aligned to ensure that the front
and rear wheels are correctly aligned.
% Drive chain slack:
Standard: 30 – 40 mm (1.2 – 1.6 in)
• After adjusting the drive chain, tighten the rear axle housing
set bolts
A and
B in the described order to the specified
torque.
NOTE:
Tighten the nuts
C after tightening the set bolts
A and
B.

(10.0 kgf-m, 72.5 lb-ft)
B:73 N·m
(7.3 kgf-m, 53.0 lb-ft)
• Remount the brake caliper and tighten the brake caliper
mounting bolt to the specified torque.
" Brake caliper mounting bolt:
26 N·m (2.6 kgf-m, 19.0 lb-ft)
30 – 40 mm
