30-2 Overview D20x22 Series II Navigator HDD
NOTICE: Do not rely on the Remote Lockout system as an emergency stop. It is very unlikely that disabling
thrust and rotation could be done quickly enough to prevent death or serious injury.
The Remote Lockout system will not shut down the power units on stand-alone drilling fluid systems or air
compressors. These external power units must be manually shut off.
Use the Remote Lockout system to lock out the machine before working on or near drill string. Examples
include:
•Before approaching the drill head.
•Before attempting any tooling change or attaching a product to be pulled in.
•Before attempting to apply any wrench or other tool to drill string.
•Before manually adding or removing drill rod from drill string.
•Before entering an exit pit.
