1 Safety Precautions and Measures
This section outlines the safety measures that should be taken into consideration for the SmartRow™ 2 infrastructure solution.
Ensure that you have reviewed all provided safety material before beginning any initial procedures, including the safety
measures detailed in the component manuals shipped with the equipment.
NOTE: The warning and cautionary notes throughout this document do not represent all safety points that should be
observed.
1.1 Important Notes
• Prior to beginning any operations, carefully review the contents of this manual, including all precautions,
compliance, and safety measures.
• Retain this manual for the entire service life of the product.
• Take note of any warning labels on the unit and its accompanying components.
• Only qualified personnel equipped with safety helmets, gloves, shoes, and glasses should move, install, or service
this equipment.
• The unit control must be used exclusively for its intended purpose. This product is tailored for industrial,
commercial, or other professional units (such as manufacturing, electrical, and instrumentation setups). It is not
meant for purposes related wholly to individuals without the necessary credentials. Strict adherence to the
norms and usage should be observed. The purpose of the design is well-defined; therefore, the manufacturers do
not assume any responsibility for any incorrect usage. The warranty is void in the case of improper use or
modifications.
• Provide professional maintenance personnel with a key to the product when needed.
1.2 General Safety Information
• Use tools with an insulation handle.
• Wear rubber gloves and safety shoes. For additional information about tool and accessory requirements, contact
Vertiv Technical Support.
• Avoid placing tools and metal objects on the battery's surface.
• Remove any metal objects from your persons, including watches, rings, and so on.
• Disconnect all power (including the product's breaker and all UPSpower) before beginning any operations on
the inner components of the product.
• During installation, charging operations are prohibited.
• Connection wires must meet the requirements. Contact Vertiv TechnicalSupport for more information.
• After an alarm sounds via the Vertiv™ Liebert® RDU501 Intelligent Monitoring Unit, it is critical to determine and
treat the cause quickly to avoid any further system damage.
• The presence of sharp edges, objects, and bare hooks poses a risk of injury; therefore, use caution when handling
any of the aforementioned items.
