SHIM SELECTION
(EXCEPT FOR USA AND CANADA)
Pinion gear shim
NOTE:
Find pinion gear shim thickness (T3) by
selecting shims until the specified measure-
ment is obtained with the special tool.
1. Install:
● Pinion height gauge
● Drive shaft
● Bearing
NOTE:
● Fix the pinion height gauge to the drive
shaft so that the shaft is at the center of
the hole.
● Tighten the wing nuts 1/4 turn after con-
tacting the fixing plate.
2. Install:
● Pinion
● Pinion nut
3. Measure:
● Measurement (M)
NOTE:
● Measure the fit between the pinion height
gauge and lower surface of the pinion.
● Perform the same measurement at three
points on the pinion.
4. Calculate:
● Pinion gear shim thickness (T3)
