2nd HDU Drive and Controller Test
The HDU Drive and Controller test checks the following:
• Drive Ready Test
• Test HDU Controller
• Test HDU Drive
• Seek Test on HDU
• Verify HDU Surface
• Write to HDU Test Cylinder
• Read and Check Data on HDU Test Cylinder.
Drive Ready Test: The drive ready test assures that the hard
disk drive is ready. If the drive is not ready in 15 to 17 seconds, an
error message is displayed.
^ HDU Controller Test: This test checks the HDU Controller
j board. This test writes, reads, and verifies all possible data to the
ports that allow both writes and reads.
HDU Drive Test; This test checks the hardware of the HDU
itself.
Seek Test: The first seek is to the last cylinder, the second seek
is to the first cylinder, the third seek is to the last cylinder - 1, the
fourth seek is to the first cylinder + 1, and so on.
Verifying HDU Surface: This test verifies each track of the
HDU and searches for bad tracks.
