Hard Disk Unit "Not Ready" on Cold Start
1. After the computer has been OFF for a few minutes, turn the
power switch ON.

"Ready," it is a good possibility the HDU is defective and
should be replaced.

If the Resident Diagnostics indicate that the HDU (Fixed Disk) is [ j
not ready after the power switch is turned ON, this HDU may be
the victim of a design problem. This design problem has been p
resolved and the replacement units have the fix incorporated. This j
problem is present only on cold starts (when the computer has ~
been OFF for a little while and the power switch is turned ON).
This can be verified as follows:
If the Resident Diagnostics indicates the Fixed Disk is "Not ^
Ready," turn the power switch OFF and then immediately |
turn it back ON.
