Access

Caution:
This
will
destroy
ALL
data
stored
on
the
HDU.
If
the
HDU
problem
is
the
result
of
the
heads
becoming
misaligned,
the
following
message
may
be
received
when
trying
to
read
or
write
to
the

A
unit
that
has
just
been
received,
transported
to
a
new
location,
or
equipped
with
a
new
HDU
may
experience
trouble
accessing
the
^
HDU
(drive
C).
This
becomes
apparent
when
the
system
will
not
j

boot
from
drive
C
or
recognizes
it
as
being
a
non-DOS
partitioned
disk.
This
is
probably
the
result
of
rough
handling
during
shipment
or
transporting
of
the
unit
and
is
an
indication
that
the
HDU
heads
may
be
misaligned.
Even
though
the
HDU
cannot
be
read
from
or
written
to,
the
Resident
Diagnostics
will
show
the
HDU
(Fixed
Disk)
status
as
Ready.
The
first
fix
attempt
in
the

case
of
a
previously
bootable
Hard

which
is

accessible,
is
to
try
to
retransfer
the
Operating
System
to
the
Hard
Disk
Unit
by
means
of
the
SYS
command
present
in
your
MS-DOS
system
diskette.
This
may
recover
any
lost
data
from
j
j
one
of
the
first
tracks
on
the
Hard
Disk.
If
this
fails,
then
try
reformatting
the
HDU
to
clear
the
problem.
