Placing
Low-Level
Format
and
Bad
Track
Mapping
on
the
Hard
Disk
Caution:
It
must
be
understood
that
this
procedure
will
destroy
ALL
data
stored
on
the
HDU.

Before
running
System
Diagnostics,
you
must
get
the
bad
track
table
listing
located
on
top
of
the
HDU.

2.
Turn
off
the
System
Module
and
all
external
devices.
3.
Unplug
the
ac
power
cable
from
the
rear
panel.
4.
Loosen
the
two
screws
that
secure
the
upper
cover.
5.
Slide
the
upper
cover
forward
approximately
1/2
inch
and
lift
it
from
the
System
Module.
6.
Look
at
the
top
of
your
HDU
for
a
piece
of
paper
with
data.
This
is
the
HDU
error
map
which
designates
the
cylinder
number
and
head
number
for
each
bad
track
found
by
the
HDU
manufacturer.
7.
Write
down
each
cylinder
number
and
head
number
pair
on
a
piece
of
paper.
8.
Replace
the
upper
System
Module
cover
and
tighten
the
two
screws
on
the
rear
panel.
Connect
the
ac
power
cable
to
the
ac
wall
outlet.
