After you press the appropriate key followed by the ENTER key,
the floppy disk option menu is displayed:
MFD UNIT TEST SELECTION:
0 - RETURN TO MAIN MENU
1 - SEQUENTIAL WRITE
2 - SEQUENTIAL READ
3 - FUNNEL READ AND DATA COMPARE
4 - VERIFY DISKETTE
5 - RANDOM READ
6 - ALL OF THE ABOVE TESTS
7 - WRITE PROTECT TEST
8 - HEAD ALIGNMENT
After selecting the options, you are asked to insert a formatted
scratch diskette. The diskette must be formatted in an MS-DOS
environment, using the format utility (format a: or format b:).
The following is a description of the tests performed by each
MENU option.
1 - SEQUENTIAL WRITE: This test writes to all sectors of a
formatted diskette (previously formatted by the option "FORMAT
SCRATCH DISKETTE"). The first byte of each sector contains
the track number, the second byte contains the sector number, the
third byte contains the head number. The remainder of each
record is filled with a sample pattern. The sample pattern used is
OOh, FFh, B6h, D9h. From D9h on, the remainder of each sector is
filled with repeated byte patterns.
