To find the name of the NetBIOS domain for your organization from a domain
controller, follow these steps:
a. Open “Active Director y Us ers and C om puters” Sna p-In.
b. Right-click on you fully qualified doma in name and cho os e
Properties
.
In the Properties window, the Domain Name (Pr e-Windows 2000) field displays
the NetBIOS name.
STEP 5
In the AD Server Name field, enter the hostname of your domain controller.
To find the hostname of your domain controller:
a. Log in to your domain controller.
b. Click
Start,
right-click
My C om put er
, and choose
Properties
.
c. In the
Properties
window, click
Computer Name
.
In the
Properties
window, the
Full computer name
field displays the hostname.
For example, if the full computer name is mydc.example.com, the hostname of
the domain con troller is mydc.
You ca n also follow thes e steps to find the hos tnam e of your doma in controller:
a. Click
Start > Run
, enter
CMD
in th e
Run
window, and click
OK
.
b. In the
command
window, type
Hostname
and pres s
Enter
.
The returned text is the hostname of your domain controller.
STEP 6
In the
Domain
field, enter the fully qualified domain name (for example,
mycompany.local).
STEP 7
(Optional) In the
Organi z ationa l Uni t (OU )
field, enter the path of the O U
containment.
STEP 8
In the
Domain Administrator Username
field, enter the us erna me of the domain
controller administrator.
STEP 9
In the
Domain Administrator Password
field, enter the pas sw ord of the domain
controller administrator.
