3.2.8 Condensation, water intrusion and deposits
In some weather conditions there may occur condensation inside the
radome. The drain tube is designed to lead any water away from inside
the radome.
Observe the following guidelines for condensation and water intrusion:
1. If possible, install the radome such that direct spray of seawater is
avoided.
2. Make sure the ADU’s drain tube is open and that there it free space
between the drain tube and the mounting surface so water can
escape and there is ventilation for the ADU.
3. Do not use pneumatic tools for cleaning the radome, especially at a
short distance and directly at the split between top and bottom.
4. Do not place the ADU close to a funnel, as smoke deposits are
corrosive. Furthermore, deposits on the radome can degrade
performance.
