For Non-ComNav devices, the devices are configured as follows:
N2K devices through “Network Config” from the Main Menu and the wiring is a drop
cable to the N2K network. Consult ComNav for compabilitities
NMEA 0183 devices through “SPU setup” from the Main Menu and the wiring is
through NAV1 and NAV2 port of the P4 SPU
For ComNav pumps, thruster and solenoids are configured through “SPU setup”
from the Main Menu and the wiring is through Drive Outputs, Rudder Follower port of
the P4 SPU.

Setting Up
This chapter describes all the steps needed to prepare your P4 Autopilot for use on your
vessel, after you have installed it.
NOTE: to correctly complete the procedures described in this chapter, you will need to be
familiar with the basic concepts of using the autopilot’s Control Head modes, menus,
turning the system on and off, etc.
If you have not already done so, please read the introductory section of the Basic Operations
chapter.
System and Network Config. Set-up
1. System Menu - Set up the layout and unit format in P4 Control Head.
2. Network Config. Menu - Configure all N2K devices (mainly the N2K Compass and
N2k Navigation unit) to the P4 Autopilot.
3. When you first Power Up the P4 Autopilot, and without any configuration done, the
unit will automatically pick up any valid N2K compass or Navigation Source signals
available on the N2K network.
4. Bring up the Network Config. Menu to check the selected items, and to make sure
you are using the correct Compass and Navigation source.
