6 Electrical Installation
6.1 Cable Connections
The mains cables are connected to terminals L1, L2, and L3 (12-pulse units 1L1, 1L2, 1L3, 2L1, 2L2, 2L3). The motor cables are con-
nected to terminals U, V, and W.

6.1.1 General Cable Requirements
Use cables with a minimum heat resistance of +70 °C (158 °F). In the selection of the cables and the fuses, refer to the nominal
output current of the drive. Find the nominal output current on the nameplate.
We recommend selecting the cables and the fuses to agree with the output current because the input current of the AC drive is
almost the same as the output current.
In AC drives consisting of double input sections, an even number of input cables is required. In AC drives consisting of double pow-
er units an even number of motor cables is needed. See 12.4 Cable and Fuse Sizes for list of cabling recommendations.

RISK OF DAMAGE TO DRIVE DUE TO UNEQUAL LOAD
In case the cabling between the units is not symmetrical, unequal load might occur and reduce loadability or even damage the
AC drive.
In 12-pulse drives with double inputs or outputs it is very important that the same cable dimensions, type and routing is
used for all cables.
NOTE! If a safe switch between the AC drive and the motor is used, make sure that it is switched on before setting the AC drive in
run state.
For information on how to make the cable installation to comply with the UL standards, see 6.1.2 UL Standards on Cabling.
