Mechanical installation 55
Constructing earthing electrode and earthing
Construct an earthing electrode around the inverter foundation.
Connect the main earthing busbar of the inverter to the earthing busbar of the MV station
and to the earthing electrode. Refer to Electrical installation on page 77.
Adding the cables
Add cables and cabling protection. Refer to Electrical installation on page 77.
Filling the pit and finalizing the surroundings
1. If required by local frost conditions, add insulation around the foundations.
2. To minimize the growth of grass, use geotextile below the foundation and below the
service platform around the inverter. Put the geotextile 20 cm (8 in) below and about
100 cm (40 in.) around the foundation.
3. Inverter fork lift holes should be covered with stainless steel plates to prevent the
intrusion of wildlife under the inverter.
WARNING! Prevent damage to the cables when you fill the pit. If it is necessary,
use wood or metal shields to provide additional protection.
Do not plant trees near the inverter. If bushes are planted, make sure that the planting
compost base is at least one meter (40 in) from the inverter housing and that fully-grown
bushes do not prevent maintenance access to the inverter. Make sure that anything
planted near the inverter does not discharge dust or seeds that can affect the cooling air
flow.
