It is ESSENTIAL that tape length is updated via the keypad (GEN sub-menu
of CNFG menu, see section 4.8.1) every time one is replaced. For example,
if the user is using a 330 foot (100 meter) lead acetate tape, it is essential
that he or she update the tape remaining length to a value of 330 (100)
every time a new tape is installed.
5.9.2 Global Alarms
12 analyzer global alarms can be enabled or disabled. Out of the 12 alarms, only 5 have
editable Limit fields.
• The Sensor LED current alarm limit is set by default to 15mA for a Class I, Div. 1 unit and
19mA for a Class I, Div. 2 unit. The actual sensor LED current can be viewed on the
Analysis Tab
• The High and Low temperature limits are set to 40°C and 0°C respectively.
• The Maximum Tape Advance Limit is set to 60 seconds. The actual Tape advance time will
vary depending on the darkness of the tape staining.
• The Tape Length Remaining field is set by default to 20 ft (6.1m). If the analyzer calculates
the tape length to be less than the limit, an alarm will be set. The length in this box will be
automatically converted to the chosen system of units when the Imperial or Metric radio
buttons in the Tape box are selected, and the chosen system of units (feet or meters) will
also be displayed beside the name of this field.
Each global alarm has a list of relays and solenoids that can be used to activate an alarm
action response. To change any of these actions from the default setting, the global alarm
needs to be disabled first (remove the checkmark from its corresponding checkbox by a left
mouse click). Once this is done choose a desired action by placing a checkmark into the
appropriate actions checkbox and then re-enable the global alarm.
