5.8 Installation of the switch box,
constructiontype“ExternalUnit”
Install the switch box according to the descriptions in this chapter.
Prior to installation, read the safety instructions in chapter 2attentively and
follow the instructions and information therein.

Risk of accident and injury
y
Incorrectly attached lifting gear can cause accidents.
When using lifting gear on the generator, only use the
provided attachment points.
Only use suitable lifting equipment.
5.8.1 Requirements on the installation position
y The switch box must not be installed inside the engine compartment.
y It must not be mounted in an area of trapped heat nor must air be allowed
to ow through it, e.g.air blown out of the engine compartment.
y The switch box must be mounted so that the cooling vanes are vertical
and to ensure unobstructed air convection through the cooling vanes. The
cooling vanes must not be covered.
y The switch box must be installed with spray water protection and to make
it impossible to spray the switch box with ahigh-pressure cleaner. When
using the covering and rain covers provided by the manufacturer, the
switch box is also allowed to be mounted outdoors.
y The switch box must be mounted rmly and securely on alevel base with
aload-bearing capacity sucient to support the weight of the switch box.
y The switch box is mounted on avertical surface for iMAPLA 8and 13.
y For iMAPLA 17to 20, the supporting frame of the switch box is mounted
on ahorizontal surface.
y The installation site must be low-vibration. Choose an installation site
for which adequate ventilation is guaranteed at all times where the
temperature of the cooling air does not exceed 40°C.
